1. Doug

Doug premiered on Nickelodeon in 1991 and aired through 1994. In 1996 Disney picked up the show and ran new episodes through 1999. While the two series have a few glaring differences, the main character and his core group of friends stayed largely in tact. The series take place in the small, fictitious town of Bluffington. Doug Funnie and his family moved from Bloatsburg, and Doug is forced to meet new friends and take on the every day challenges all grade-schoolers. A few constants Doug has in his life are Doug's faithful dog, Porkchop, and his daily diary entries. Doug also had alter-egos in the series such as Qaulman and Jack Bandit. Created in Doug's imagination, they were placed in imaginary versions of situations Doug was forced to deal with in his real life. Bluffington provided us with the classic "girl next door" - Patti Mayonnaise, the local bully - Roger Klotz, the quirky best friend/sidekick - Skeeter Valentine, the hipster sister - Judy Funnie, and the crazy neighbor - Mr. Dink. What more could you ask for? Thanks for the life lessons Doug!
